Undergraduate Intern – IFAI Fellowship Program
About the Internship Opportunity
The International Festival of Arts & Ideas is seeking an undergraduate student to serve as an intern with the Arts & Ideas Fellowship Program. The program will give economically disadvantaged teens exposure to careers in the arts and various arts disciplines and will teach critical thinking and writing skills. The undergraduate intern will support in the administration of the program as well as serve as a mentor to students as they progress through the program.
Intern Primary Duties:
Part-time May 2010 (Tuesdays, 2:00pm – 7:00pm)
Support Program Director in preparation of materials for sessions with students
Attend program sessions and assist Program Manager and Critical Writing teacher as needed
Mentor students
Work with Program Manager to research related jobs or internships for students at the completion of the program
Full-time June 7-26 2010 (specific times TBD)
As the Festival nears, intern will support Program Director in solidifying schedule for immersion experience, including creating detailed itineraries and communicating with content providers and students about their schedules
During the Festival, June 12-26 intern will chaperone the students as they participate in their immersion experience, bringing them from venue to venue, supervising students and continuing to serve as a teaching assistant for content providers as necessary
Compensation:

More Details Regarding the International Festival of Arts & Ideas Fellowship Program
The International Festival of Arts & Ideas Fellowship Program is designed to give high school students unparalleled exposure to careers in the arts as they prepare to pursue college and/or enter the workforce. The program will focus on (1) introducing students to a variety of careers in the arts; (2) deepening students’ understanding of the arts and humanities disciplines represented at the Festival; (3) honing students’ skills in writing and self-expression; and (4) involving students in hands-on experiences. The program will culminate in an intensive two-week immersion experience at the 15th annual International Festival of Arts & Ideas, June 12-26, 2010. Following the program, the Festival will endeavor to place fellows in related summer jobs and internships.
