Where:   WLH 117
Type:   Meeting

A talk with Dr. Robert Hayden,  Professor of Anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh and an expert on the former Yugoslavia

Monday, November 16, 4:30 PM
WLH 117

How can "the defense of human rights" have negative consequences? What injustices have been done in the name of human rights? Who receives the greatest tangible benefits from international human rights efforts?

Robert Hayden uses his extensive knowledge of the former Yugoslavia to show how political actors have abused claims of human rights violations, claims which otherwise may be legitimate. Hayden's talk will be of keen interest to students of history, human rights, military power, international law, and/or the Balkans.

Join Dr. Hayden and members of Yale Amnesty International for dinner in the Saybrook Fellow's Lounge following the talk.
