Page 73 Productions presented the play’s premiere in early 2006 at the Culture Project, where it received critical praise and played to sold-out houses. Elliot, A Soldier’s Fugue returns for a limited engagement as part of The IMPACT Festival and is set to play October 6 - 29 at Teatro Heckscher of El Museo del Barrio. PENCIL (Public Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 1995 to galvanize and coordinate meaningful civic involvement in New York City public education to improve student achievement. Its flagship program, Principal For A Day, has paired thousands of New Yorkers from the private sector with the City’s schools. This and other PENCIL programs have fostered hundreds of long-term partnerships with schools, generated millions of dollars worth of donations of cash, goods, and services for schools and school districts, and acted as a vehicle through which the City’s private sector has advocated for educational reform. PENCIL’s programs serve as national and international models of private sector engagement in public education. Voices of Rwanda's mission is to film and preserve testimonies of Rwandans, and to ensure that their stories inform the world about genocide and inspire a global sense of responsibility to prevent human rights atrocities. These testimonies will be made available in an archive in Rwanda and the United States and will be used in high schools across America to help educate students about the Rwandan genocide that claimed over 800,000 lives in 100 days. I've been working with Jill Cohen ('02), and others to create this non-profit over the last year. We've been filming in Rwanda and the United States, and I plan to move to Rwanda next year to continue recording testimonies. Pleae join us at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park in Manhattan, for Voices of Rwanda's inaugural fundraiser.
