Join Yalie author Andrea DaRif (aka award-winning historical romance writer Andrea Pickens) and other published authors in a kicky evening of relaxed readings and gossip on the world of romance. The authors will read from their new works in progress and dish with the audience on  . . . anything on the sun. It promises to be a fun time in a swanky place, all to benefit "Share The Love" a  program that donates gently used romance novels to women's shelters.

Nourish International is starting up their weekly Wednesday night Pancakes for Poverty fundraiser again this coming Wednesday in Dwight Hall.

Come 11-1 every Wednesday night for $1 pancakes! Funds will go towards building a school for women in a rural village in Kenya, a project identified by a local Young Women's Group as their top priority for development.

Nourish International is also co-sponsoring weekly Thursday night Yale Nights at Caffe Bottega, with free admission with Yale ID and open bar 9-11pm every Thursday night.  In return for bringing out lots of Yalies, the nice people at Caffe Bottega are giving Nourish 10% of the bar tab on Thursdays. Her Mode recording of the Copland with Ives First Sonata was released to critical acclaim. This concert marks her first performance of the Concord Sonata. The New York Times described her performance of 1940s American music as music-making as intelligent as it was technically proficient.

"VIHDA Means Life" will explore the internal struggle that takes place within one woman seeking to come to terms with her bodies as well as the concert of bodies around her, told through the artistic media of spoken word, movement, and wearable art. In the 21st century, as people are becoming less connected, separated by text messages, emails and other more impersonal forms of communication, more people ironically enough are dying of these social diseases. The production progresses through various stages and ends with a
carnival, celebrating corporeal freedom and life.

Community Organizing 101: Sunday, February 15 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm; Dwight Hall, SJN Room. Come join Jews for Justice, the Dwight Hall Social Justice Network, and leaders of other groups across campus for an interactive training on community organizing offered by the Jewish Organizing Initiative (JOI). We will focus in on the tool of telling and sharing stories as a way to build relationships, grow organizations, and gain power to win campaigns. The workshop is open to all - student leaders interested in strengthening their work on campus and those considering social change work beyond their college years are welcome and encouraged to attend. Following the workshop, students are invited to stay for a brief info session on the Jewish Organizing Initiative fellowship, a year long training program in community organizing based in Boston, MA. The training and info session will be led by Lauren Jacobson '08, current fellow at the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization; Rachel Bedick, current fellow at the Community Action Agency of Somerville; and Anne Fox, JOI alumna and organizer at UNITE-HERE Local 26.
