When:   July 11, 2011 9:00am-3:00pm
Where:   Convent of the Sisters of St Joseph, 27 Park Rd West Hartford CT
Type:   Volunteer Opportunity

We will need 250-300 volunteers again the week starting July 11th 2011  to setup the Tabor House GIANT Tag sale fund raiser this summer at the Convent of the Sisters of St Joseph, 27 Park Rd/corner Prospect, West Hartford.  Dates of the event open to the public are: July 14th 5-8 pm, 15th 9am-8pm,  and 16th 9-3pm, tear down after wards.  This significant community event benefits Tabor House and the under served population in Hartford.  The 17th Annual Tabor House Tag sale/Auction has become a Connecticut tradition to benefit formerly homeless men living with HIV/AIDS who now live at both homes. The proceeds of 16k from the event last year also benefited the immigrant and poor population of the inner city who need to outfit their residences with affordable items, as well as the environment.  As a result of this volunteer work, I was given a Local Hero Award by The Bank of America Foundation, and was named finalist volunteer of the year by The Hartford Business Journal, received first place status in the Santa Rita Winery Heroes contest, and am the Hero of the Week in January 2011 in the Lysol Mission for Health.

Students of all ages, employees (individuals or large corporate groups) or summer interns may wish to volunteer anytime 7/11-7/17/2011.  Duties may include:  acceptance of donated items at drop off points, helping to bring items into building, sorting items inside, setting up silent auction display, monitoring exits, cleanup. We are especially in need of a student leader to direct the other high school students.

Location: ground level of the Chapel, corner of  27 Park Rd and Prospect Ave., entrance across from Wendy's. Parking on site of on Park Rd.
