 The Nurturing Families Network at Fair Haven Community Health Center is looking for Volunteers to work with our teen parents and their children!  The Groups will run for 10 Consecutive weeks during the summer and the start on JULY 1st  They will be every Wednesday night from 5:00-7:30 pm at Centro San Jose, 290 Grand Ave, New Haven CT.

Please read the following information if you are interested in volunteering with us:

FairHavenCommunityHealthCenter, Nurturing Families Network, is recruiting interested volunteers to work as infant and child caregivers.

 

 

Volunteers will care for:

 

 

Infants and young children (ages Birth to five).  The Nurturing Families Parenting Group Program provides weekly planned activities that teach parenting skills and provide a safe environment for children to socialize and learn at the same time. Volunteers will provide support to the children's group facilitator while role modeling healthy caregiver/child interactions for parents. 

 Elegibility: 

 

·        Must be 16 years of age or older

*  Must have a love for children*

·        Must not have a criminal record or be a registered sex offender

·        Must pass a health PPD test

·        Must be a registered volunteer with FHCHC before starting date ( contact coordinator for details)

*Volunteers are never left alone with children and are not required to feed or change diapers.

 

 

Skills:

 

·        Personal or professional work experience with children.

 

 

·        Ability to work as a team player, both with the children and parents group.

 

 

·        Ability to work with a diverse population.

 

 

·        A happiness and eagerness to work with children

 

 

This is an excellent and rewarding opportunity to volunteer your time and recommendations can be made for you by group coordinator.  A hot meal is provided at every session and you will not want to miss a day!!
