The Public Service/Social Justice Committee of the Yale Alumni Association of Metropolitan New York is proud to participate in Project Cicero's 10th Annual Book Drive. Project Cicero has distributed nearly 1,300,000 books to under-resourced New York City public schools and others in need by creating or supplementing school and classroom libraries through the collaborative efforts of more than 100 New York City Independent, Parochial and Public Schools, The New York Society Library, Children for Children and many other great partners. To learn more about the project, please visit http://projectcicero.org. We need 30 volunteers (for each shift listed below) to advance the educational opportunities of children by sorting donated books into appropriate categories while meeting and re-connecting with fellow Yalies; if interested, please register by logging onto http://tinyurl.com/yd7p53b. Children 13 and above are welcome to join their parents to help out. Available Shifts: Saturday, March 6, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm or Sunday, March 7, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm If you are interested in donating books for the drive, please keep the following guidelines in mind: New and gentle used hardcover and paperback books for children and young adults such as picture books, test prep, fiction, nonfiction and biographies. NO: Textbooks, adult books, library discards or reference books more than 5 years old.
